Your home is connected to a low voltage grid, which supplies electricity at 230 volts. In order to prevent damage or complete failure of the appliance, standards exist that limit the maximum deviation from this supply voltage.

Appliances need to be designed to function properly within these limits. Appliances operating at 230 V will have the longest lifespan at this voltage.

If the voltage is too low or voltage in excess of the normal operating voltage,  which can cause components to melt or cause equipment to fail.
